For workers required to operate SCBA during confined space entry, emergency response or short-term IDLH tasks.

Course details
- Duration
- Approximately 4 hours (½ day).
- Class size
- Maximum 12 students per class.
- Prerequisites
- Medically fit to wear breathing apparatus.
- Equipment
- All training materials and PPE supplied by Zokal Safety Training. Includes SCBA sets, harnesses and cylinders.
- Assessment
- Continuous assessment across theory and practical components. Written knowledge questions plus supervised practical demonstration against the national performance criteria.
- Recognition
- Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued under RTO 91267 on successful completion.
Learning outcomes
- Fit-check and don SCBA safely
- Operate SCBA under simulated work conditions
- Monitor air supply and communicate whilst on air
- Perform post-use inspection and reporting
