Assessment guide
How Zokal assesses competency, what evidence we collect and what happens if you are not yet competent.
Assessment methods
- Written or verbal knowledge questioning
- Practical demonstration of workplace tasks under supervision
- Scenario and simulated emergency exercises
- Third-party or workplace evidence where applicable
Competency outcomes
Assessment is not graded. You are either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC) against each unit. Competency means you can perform the task safely and consistently to the national standard.
If you are not yet competent
Your trainer will give feedback and, where practical, offer reassessment on the day. If more practice is needed we will arrange a further reassessment opportunity; additional fees may apply.
Appeals
You may appeal any assessment decision in writing within 20 business days. An independent assessor reviews the evidence and you are advised of the outcome.
