Complete Your Suitability Self-Assessment
Help Us Confirm That the Course Is Right for You
Before completing your enrolment application, you will be asked to complete a Suitability Self-Assessment.
The assessment helps Zokal:
- Confirm that you meet the course entry requirements
- Understand your existing skills, knowledge and industry experience
- Identify specific training needs
- Identify language, literacy, numeracy or digital support needs
- Identify physical or other barriers that may affect participation
- Determine what support may help you complete the course
- Plan reasonable adjustments or support strategies
- Document the outcome of the suitability review
The purpose is to make sure your chosen training aligns with your goals, abilities, needs and wellbeing.
How to Complete the Suitability Check
- 1Open the link sent to you by email.
- 2Log in to the Student Portal.
- 3Answer the Suitability Self-Assessment questions.
- 4Complete the LLND Assessment.
- 5Provide the information required for your enrolment application.
Answer all questions accurately. The information you provide helps Zokal identify the most appropriate training and support arrangements for you.
Complete Your LLND Assessment
A Short Check to Identify the Support You May Need
As part of your enrolment application, you will complete a short Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills assessment, commonly called an LLND Assessment.
The assessment looks at the core skills of:
- Learning
- Reading
- Writing
- Oral communication
- Numeracy
The activities are similar to tasks you may need to complete during your selected course.
This Is Not a Pass-or-Fail Test
Your LLND Assessment:
- Is not counted towards your final course results
- Is designed to identify areas where you may need assistance
- Helps your trainer determine whether adjustments or support should be arranged
- Takes approximately 10 minutes to complete
Complete the assessment yourself so the results accurately reflect the support you may require.
What Happens After Your LLND Assessment?
Your trainer will review your answers and task results. The review will help determine whether:
- You can proceed without adjustments
- You require specific learning or digital support
- Reasonable adjustments should be arranged
- An alternative pathway should be considered
- Your enrolment should be deferred
Where follow-up is required, Zokal will contact you to discuss:
- Your identified strengths
- Any gaps or barriers
- Recommended support services
- Available learning resources
- Agreed reasonable adjustments
- The next step in your training pathway
Possible support may include an LLN workshop or digital-skills coaching.

When a Training Adjustment Plan Is Required
A Training Adjustment Plan, or TAP, may be developed when the suitability check, LLND Assessment, pre-enrolment questionnaire or student declaration identifies a support need.
The plan is a personal support strategy designed to help you access training and assessment while still meeting the required course outcomes.
A TAP may support students with:
- A health condition
- A disability
- Carer responsibilities
- Language needs
- Learning needs
- Other circumstances affecting access to training
Possible reasonable adjustments listed in the handbook include:
- Extra assessment time
- Alternative-format resources
- Simplified language
- One-to-one tutorials
- Assistive technology
- Adjusted practical activities where permitted
Support arrangements do not lower the course standard or remove required unit outcomes.
How the Plan Is Developed
Zokal will:
- 1Discuss your needs with you
- 2Prepare the most suitable plan
- 3Co-design the support strategy with you
- 4Send the plan to the Student Portal for review and sign-off
- 5Arrange the agreed support
- 6Monitor and update the plan where needed
You are expected to review the plan, ask questions, attend agreed support sessions and advise Zokal when your circumstances change.
